Kendal Calling Tapestry

It's been far too long since I posted here, so I thought it was high time for an update! I've been busy working on a commission for this year's Kendal Calling festival which took place over the weekend. The following explanatory blurb was printed in this year's programme;

'This year's festival will see the Kendal Calling Bayeux Tapestry unveiled in public for the very first time. The piece tells the Kendal Calling story since its birth in 2006, giving first time visitors a history lesson and helping those who were there to rediscover any memories lost along the way.
Kendal Calling 2009 is also marked by the second issue of the KC comic. The comic book provides a showcase for the illustrative talents of emerging local artists, with its themes based on the festival as well as the local area.
Jim first met the festival team at Circa Records, the independent record shop he and his girlfriend Karen ran in Kendal. His old band Seven Seals were instrumental in helping to set up the local gig and festival scene, and along with John Bingley, another former Seal and artist extraordinaire, Jim's now committed to recording the scene in cartoon form.
"Recreating these moments allows for an interpretive energy that can't be captured any other way," Jim explains.
"In drawing something, you're forced to connect more with the subject in the frame. Besides which, it's too much fun!"'

Here I am stood by the blown-up finished article at the festival....

The rest of the tapestry in full.....
